I work on the appliance installed on my Windows 7 Dell PC. I have an older HP Photosmart printer. The drivers for the HP were no longer available when I tried installed on the Dell but HP had drivers that would work (do not remember what this the term for this was) so I have not had any issues with the printer until trying to used it from the virtual machine environment. When the appliance loads I get a long list of error messages that seem to indicate it is attempting to access the HP printer but failing to do so. After a short time the appliance starts up and works just fine.

Once in the appliance, the print preview tab works great but "print to file" as .pdf is my only option. It is a pain to copy and paste into Notepad or Word whenever I want to work on a hardcopy (and of course I lose the color-coding). Any suggestions?

Procedure

1 Select the virtual machine and select Player > Manage > Virtual Machine Settings. 2 On the Hardware tab, select Add. 3 In the Add Hardware wizard, select Printer and Finish. The default device setting is to connect the virtual machine printer when the virtual machine is powered on.

What to do next

In a Print window, when you attempt to select a printer in Windows 7 virtual machines, you might see only the default printer, even though other prin

  • Found the quote from user guide and followed directions. Now under Player - Manage - Virtual Player Settings, I can see a printer marked as "present." Still can only print to file. Using Menu - Administration - Print Settings, I am told there are not printers configured yet. Oct 27, 2014 at 23:44
  • I have had the same problem. No one really seems to know how to do this
