I've installed the Virtual Machine and everything is fine. However, when I open gedit and try to write a program I can't obtain the hashtag with alt+3, as you normally would using Mac OSX. Has anyone had this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • This is for an older appliance, but I don't think the steps will be that different. You may take a look at Configure appliance for QWERTY layout (UK)! Maybe you can follow the steps their and choose your preferred layout!

Reset to default

You should use 

Shift + 3

instead of 

alt + 3

Or in the worst case scenario you can just copy and paste it from the google and use it in gedit it will work fine.
