Unless you are the type of techie who enjoys "doing things harder than they need to be" your appliance will not have the built in optimizations, and the time you save downloading the smaller iso will be spent creating a vm, installing the iso file, and making it work in your custom environment. Not my idea of a good time, but I am not you :)

What I wanna know is if all the software pre-installed in both ISO and OVA are the same so I can do exactly the same as all the other guys using OVA file can do for all the problem sets of CS50. If both ISO and OVA files are the same in the way I mentioned, I would download ISO and then install it on my VMware.
