I have a quick question. I have some programming experience C and C++ ... Can you please tell me how much time( roughly ) will I take to complete CS50 ? Also is honor code certificate signed by instructor? Will I be able to use in on my resume ? Should I go for Verified Certificate? Is is worth it?

Someone managed to finish CS50 in a week (!) but more realistically, maybe around 1 to 2 months?

As far as I understand, Honor Cert is just for fun and it doesn't have any real credibility. (As in don't think about solely using this cert to get a job). People can cheat or just photoshop their own cert.

Verified cert gives your cert credibility. It is at least believable.

Putting it on your resume is good as it shows you are keen on learning and improving your skills. But it's not a good idea if that's the only thing listed :P

  • Just fyi. the Honor Code certificate has a verification hash printed on it, which verifies that it is a valid certificate for the name given. What it doesn't do is verify that you are the name on the certificate. ;) – curiouskiwi Jun 30 '15 at 4:34

I'd say that you need ~4 hrs/week to watch all the materials for that week (including the lectures, the section, the shorts, and the walkthroughs).

sections, shorts, walkthroughs are essentially optional to watch. for someone who has experience, you probably won't need to watch them all.

people usually take time searching, reading, understanding stuff, solving the psets, etc.

Also is honor code certificate signed by instructor?

afraid not.

Will I be able to use in on my resume ?

yes.

Should I go for Verified Certificate? Is is worth it?

I think it's worth it, but totally your decision.
