I was using CS50 Appliance normally on Windows 8 but once I updated my Windows to Windows 10, a problem arose. So I guess it is a compatibility problem of the virtualbox and went to its website to download the version for Windows 10 (although it states 'Please be aware that Windows 10 is not yet officially supported!'). Then the initial problem of terminated unexpectedly disappears but new problem arises as shown below.

Could not start the machine CS50 Appliance 2014 because the following physical network interfaces were not found:

vboxnet0 (adapter 2), en1: Ethernet 2 (adapter 3)

You can either change the machine's network settings or stop the machine.

Failed to open a session for the virtual machine CS50 Appliance 2014.

The VM session was closed before any attempt to power it on.

Please help me as I basically run out of time in finishing the course before the deadline. I also hope that others with similar problems can continue the course.

Reset to default

Go into the appliance's network settings and disable the second and third network adapters. See more detailed explanation here [https://cs50.stackexchange.com/a/11103/7539].   • Thanks a lot for your help. I can now open the appliance. But one thing different from before is that it shows 'missing network adapter' on the right bottom. Any problems with this? Say will it hinder me from uploading cs50 assignments?

  • Thank you very much for your help. Just one thing to ask: the IP address becomes so strange and different from before, which is in the form of XX.X.X.XX. Any problems with this?

  • If it's 10.0.2.15, or something in this area it's totally normal. It's the default IP address that VirtualBox uses for its virtual networks. I am on Windows 10 but instead of Virtualbox I am using VMware (you get a subscription for it with the course) and everything is working just fine for me. If you can't use VMware you could always try downloading Microsoft's own virtual pc software.
