I just made a new file called mickey.c (basically a version of hello.c). I went into the directory and executed the command

make mickey.c

it says "nothing to make". here is the output from terminal:

therealmccoy1:~/workspace/Week1 $ ls
a.out hello hello.c mickey.c
therealmccoy1:~/workspace/Week1 $ make mickey.c
make: Nothing to be done for `mickey.c'

I was trying to compile the program, right? So, why is it saying nothing to be done for mickey.c?

thanks !

I resolved it.

Actually, the command which needs to be made is make filename(without the file extension).

essentially instead of make mickey.c, it has to be make mickey.

thanks !
