I received my grade back from Pset1 in Cs50X and it isn't what I expected. On some areas where I received a 0, it worked in my program when I inputed those numbers. I want to send a screenshot to the CS50X gradebook so they can see that it works. Is that okay?

  • The grading process is automated. The solutions to the psets are not graded manually. Did you test your program with check50?

The gradebook is automated so there is probably no one there to look at your screenshot. If you want to put a screenshot online, as long as it is not a screenshot of your source code, that would be very reasonable (in terms of academic honesty).

However, even if you have a screenshot of the "correct" program results, you still need to submit working code to receive a full grade. Sometimes there are things that are not so obvious that can cause problems - details are very important for programmers, and so you should be able to follow a specification to the letter.

The check50 utility is provided for exactly this reason. A professional programmer frequently would have to write their own test cases to make sure the code they produce exactly fits the specifications of the project, but for CS50 those test cases are already written into check50. It will tell you exactly where your program is not behaving exactly correctly, and it will try to give you a helpful clue about what's wrong.

One of the common messages from check50 is, "Expected output, but not _____" where your program's output is shown in the blank space. This escapes some special characters so you can see if you accidentally put too many or too few tabs or new line characters. Sometimes the message is not so easy to understand, and in this case you could search any of the cs50 support areas (here, reddit, Facebook) for that message to see if there is an answer that will help you.

But even if you get all green smiley-faces in the check50 output, you need to be able to accomplish the task of submitting that working code to the gradebook in order to get a grade. It's a very small hoop to jump through in order to get the most out of this course.

I think you have the same problem i had yesterday which is that I uploaded the first two programs hello and mario firstly then the third one greedy program then i have zero for the first two project and a excellent grade for the third one.

the solution for that problem : uploading the all files for the pset1 on the same time with each other not separately and you will be regraded again .

good luck !

Yes, you can upload the image at http://imgur.com

Also, you can use check50 to check your program for mistakes and paste the given url that appears at the end of the results in here too.
