I appear to have lost all my working files by inadvertently using Power Off option instead of suspend option of the VMware virtual machine and CS50-19 version of Appliance. Is there any way to recover these files?

I have checked in my Dropbox folder also. They are not there. These files represent 6 hrs of my experience in developing mario.c and some files without any compilation errors. The mario.c file still contains logical errors as revealed by check50 results. Again I am doing the hard work of developing these files with my July 14 files and some notes I have made in my scrapbook.

I'm using the Power Off option and never had that problem. Did you saved those files inside the Dropbox folder?

Maybe you powered off the appliance before saving your work on gedit to the dropbox.

On the File/Options menu of gedit there is a "editor" tab where you can set the "autosave" function, so it will save your work for you every n minutes.

  • I tried looking for Options Menu under File option of gedit to set the autosave function. I could not find it.uma1966.original comment by Cygni-61
