I have filled in register_form and register.php (still have not done the //TODO portion).

But when I go to my site, and click register, I get two errors:

( ! ) Warning: Unknown: failed to open stream: Permission denied in Unknown on line 0
( ! ) Fatal error: Unknown: Failed opening required '/home/ubuntu/workspace/pset7/public/register.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/php:/usr/share/pear') in Unknown on line 0

I tried chmod 600 register.php since it's a PHP file but that didn't really do anything either.

Am i supposed to be getting this error until I do my //TODO? Or what's the problem?

I had problems earlier with this problem set due to the IDE, does this have something to do with it?

  • Try chmod 640, that should make it work. – dLopez Aug 9 '16 at 2:46
  • I would suggest taking the warning at face value and look more into where it suggests the error lies. By doing so, you will learn a lot more about proper coding habits than whatever answers show up on here. Which is extremely vital in such loosely-typed programming languages such as PHP or Javascript because you won't always have that crutch. I myself didn't have to chmod anything. Will that happen to everyone though? Probably not. – NullityNull Aug 9 '16 at 2:51
  • The phrase "Unknown on line 0" is telling. Error message normally shows file name and line number where it occurs. The error may be as simple as a misspelled extension. – ronga Aug 9 '16 at 4:58
  • chmod 640 should make it work – Srikar Tadiparthi Sep 22 '16 at 17:23
  • I had to do chmod 640 for register.php and register_form.php to make it work. This is weird, because login_form.php and login.php are still 600? – William Cullian Nov 18 '16 at 3:01
