I am restarting pset7. I ran update50 and unzipped the files which were already in my directory. When I get to the part where I look for the icon to put in the username and password to put in config.json and I can't find the icon. No problem because I have the password from when I started this pset 2 months ago. When I try to visit the site (using my username) I get the following error:

Warning: session_start(): open(/var/lib/php5/sess_ccqunho086chrb3k0vloeajf81, O_RDWR) failed: Permission denied (13) in /home/ubuntu/workspace/pset7/includes/config.php on line 24

I am sure I was not getting any error the last time I worked on this. Does this have to do with the fact that I updated the IDE? ... or maybe my password somehow changed.

    Did you bounce apache50 after update50? (apache50 stop, apache50 start "your-root"). Try that. When you unzipped the files did it give a "replace" prompt? If so, which option did you choose? You can find your password with password50 but this error occurs before db access. There have been many changes in the past 2 months affecting pset7 (and pset8) permissions. If you start encountering "403 permission denied" errors (assuming apache50 bounce works!), you'll want to look here Sep 5, 2016 at 13:12

    One of the reasons I restarted this pset is that I was having problems I couldn't explain and was having trouble describing with what I had worked on several weeks ago. Its now working. The reddit post saved me loads of time - Thanks! Sep 7, 2016 at 22:33
