I just installed the appliance and I wanted to make the resolution fit to my computer screen (1440*900) but it doesn't so I tried to download guest addition CD image but it says:

Could not insert the VirtualBox Guest Additions disk image file into the virtual machine, as the machine has no CD/DVD drives. Please add a drive using the storage page of the virtual machine settings window.

I just tested with mine (I don't have guest additions). If you open the appliance and then, in the Virtual Box menu, choose View>Full Screen, it should automatically pick up your highest resolution. You can check by choosing (in the appliance menu itself) Settings>Display and you should see 1440x900 as a choice.
