The problem that I'm facing even while using the debugger is I can't seem to possibly find where I'm going wrong. Please can someone identify where I might be going wrong/ or is my understood logic regarding padding/scaling incorrect just to set me on the right track. There's one major problem: After creating the header structs bof and boi, you don't populate them. A couple of fields are calculated, but the bulk of the fields are just garbage data. Structures can be copied easily enough by a simple a=b; statement.
There may be other issues, but this will get you going again. Be sure to make use of the peek and xxd tools too.
