I want to work on PSET8: Mashup on my local machine, not Cloud9 IDE; because I am having an issue with flask on cloud9; when I type 'flask run' on cloud9 IDE, I get:

bash: /usr/local/bin/flask: Permission denied

So I downloaded the pset files and flask on my local machine, of course I had to put a value for the environment variable FLASK_APP, I used application.py, but I got:

The file/path provided (application.py) does not appear to exist. Please verify the path is correct. If app is not on PYTHONPATH, ensure the extension is .py

I don't know what to do in order to fix the situation on cloud9 or in my local machine.

Also, after running update50, try clicking the three white bars in the upper right-hand corner of your IDE, then click "restart" to refresh your IDE.

  • Ok, that got flask to work. But now, it says that the application does not appear to exist. "NoAppException: The file/path provided (application) does not appear to exist. Please verify the path is correct. If app is not on PYTHONPATH, ensure the extension is .py" Mar 14 '17 at 5:50

On cloud9 the command which flask should return /home/ubuntu/.local/bin/flask. Are you on the latest IDE version? (98 as of this writing). Run update50 if you are not. Then you will probably want to install the requirements again.
