Ive gone through a range of questions on stackexchange regarding this problem but nothing seems to solve it. The problem is that

enter image description here enter image description here When i use "~/workspace/ $ make hello" the program is running whereas when i use "~/workspace/pset1/ $ make hello" as specified by CS50, i get the message saying "make: *** No rule to make target `hello'. Stop" what can i do now?

The source codes, hello.c and water.c, are in the workspace directory, not workspace/pset1 directory. You can move them to the pset1 directory. At the ~/workspace $ prompt:

mv hello.c pset1
mv water.c pset1

Here's what the file tree will look like, notice the file names are indented under the directory in which they live.
