Please, someone can explain me why check50 doesn't work anymore and how can I get it back working fine ? When I enter the code for check50 : I had to put my log in name and password ..... and they ask me to do autorize application but I don,t find it :
~/workspace/pset4/recover/ $ check50 cs50/2017/x/recoverConnecting.... Authenticating..... GitHub username: xxxx GitHub password: ***************** Preparing..... Looks like check50 isn't enabled for your account yet. Log into https://cs50.me/ in a browser, click "Authorize application", and re-run check50 here! Submission cancelled.

So what happens when you go to http://cs50.me? Is it showing as authenticated with github? check50 requires github now so you need to make sure that github is set up.

  • When I go the website CS50.me I see only this and no autorize ? Submissions Courses Account Logout – Genevie Aug 20 '17 at 12:02
  • Same thing here. submit50 works just fine, I sumitted 'hello' from Pset1 and it worked. But I just can't use check50, keeps telling me that it's not enabled for my account. I can't find how/where to link it to my Github account! – frzburn Aug 24 '17 at 11:22
  • @frzburn be sure you are actually logged in. – curiouskiwi Aug 24 '17 at 21:28
  • I read somewhere that this might be an issue with Google Chrome but - unfortunately - I've been able to replicate the problem on Firefox and Safari as well. It's still not working for me. :-( – Felix Wenzel Aug 26 '17 at 10:06

The "authorization" comes now in an email invitation. "bot50 invited you to check50/USERNAME.

Following this solved the problem for me.

Just found a solution that worked for me.

Run check50 with verbose output:

~/workspace/pset1/ $ check50 -v cs50/2017/x/hello
Connecting...
Authenticating...
git config --global credential.https://github.com/submit50.username
git config --global credential.https://github.com/submit50.username
GitHub username: frzburn
GitHub password: ********
git -c credential.helper='cache --socket /home/ubuntu/.git-credential-cache/submit50 --timeout 604800' -c credentialcache.ignoresighup=true credential approve
Preparing...
git clone --bare https://frzburn@github.com/check50/frzburn /tmp/tmpupfp24pb
Cloning into bare repository '/tmp/tmpupfp24pb'...
Password for 'https://frzburn@github.com':
remote: Repository not found.
fatal: repository 'https://frzburn@github.com/check50/frzburn/' not found
Looks like check50 isn't enabled for your account yet. Log into https://cs50.me/ in a browser, click "Authorize application", and re-run check50 here!
git credential-cache --socket /home/ubuntu/.git-credential-cache/submit50 exit
Submission cancelled.

Note these two lines:

remote: Repository not found.
fatal: repository 'https://frzburn@github.com/check50/frzburn/' not found

I simply clicked on the link, and was asked to allow bot50 to collaborate with me or something along those lines. Then check50 worked as expected.

~/workspace/pset1/ $ check50 cs50/2017/x/hello
Connecting....
Authenticating.....
GitHub username: frzburn
GitHub password: ********
Preparing........
Uploading.........
Running checks.......
:) hello.c exists.
:) hello.c compiles.
:) prints "Hello, world!\n"

  • this does not solve the issue. I clicked on the link and it redirects to github 404 page – Chuma Umenze Sep 3 '17 at 10:10
