in CS50; when I hit Ctrl+S to Save it returns (i-search)`':

Same for Ctrl+Shift+S. Same return.

Ctrl + S is working to save other documents on my computer

That's a bash (Bourne again shell) feature. You probably have your focus on a terminal window. Moving the focus to a document, you should be able to save that file within the virtual machine.

Is there anything else you expect on pressing Ctrl+S?

  • That was it! I was in the terminal window when hitting Ctrl + S. Is there a keyboard shortcut for popping back and forth in between both windows?

  • Not one I am aware of. I accidentally trigger something when switching tabs with Ctrl+Tab, maybe this works when working with a single-tab browser window.
