I have got to the home/cs50 directory in the terminal window. But I am still unable to open the GDB command i.e. GDB. So, can anyone please help me with a step by step approach to activating the GDB debugger. Thanks in advance.

You can call gdb like gdb notes (if notes were the executable you're trying to debug), and in the prompt you get from gdb add your break points using the break command, then like run 5 (to call it as if you ran ./notes 5).

In the CS50 IDE, there's a wrapper that allows you to interact with gdb, called debug50. You can mark breakpoints in the editor and call it like debug50 ./notes 5.
