1Try running update50 again. This time, don't put a space between update and 50. – Cliff B Sep 26 '18 at 21:32
Your screenshot shows your files hello.c
, hello
, mario.c
, mario1.c
are all located in ~/workspace/
, while you call make mario1
in ~/workspace/pset1/
, where it cannot find a file representing a possible source for that target. Move your files to where you expect them, this can be done with the mouse via drag+drop, I've had some issues with this kind of manipulation and would recommend using mv
(stands for "move") on the command line instead. To list files in the current directory, you can use ls
command. If that doesn't show a mario1.c
in current directory, make mario1
wouldn't find one either.
And when you use check50
or submit50
, make sure you are in the right directory containing your source files, and that the files are named exactly as specified.

Oh, and while not relevant to this specific problem, I still recommend
update50
as the others do. Current version as of 2018-09-27 is v139. – Blauelf Sep 27 '18 at 9:55 -
Try the following again :
update50 (NOT update 50)
Make sure you have saved your program
Navigate to pset1 folder.
execute: make mario (NOT mario.c)
Hopefully this works!
