Is it OK to use the course's google maps API key in my final project? It seems like the key included in the 2018 mashup distribution code is no longer working, after one query, it returns the error:

"You have exceeded your daily request quota for this API. If you did not set a custom daily request quota, verify your project has an active billing account: http://g.co/dev/maps-no-account"

CAN you use it? Yes, it's fair game. SHOULD you use it? Probably better to get your own key, unless you want to fight that problem while you work on it. Seems that it is failing intermittently. Students using it for pset8 are having the same problems. It's up to you.

  • Thanks, I just made my own. It appears to be free although it did require a credit card, now I'm looking into ways to hide the key when i share the code, any suggestions?
