  • Does the error come when you click submit on the book page? Then the problem would likely lie in the POST block in the book route in application.py. Does the error come when you click a book on the results page? Then the problem would likely lie in the action for that button. Please add pertinent info to the question. – DinoCoderSaurus Sep 13 '19 at 11:55
  • the error shows up when the result book is clicked... what I mean is that after the list of books is displayed I can select one book, and that error shows up instead of the book info... would showing you my database tables help finding out why is this happening? – Ahmedalsa Sep 13 '19 at 12:51
  • I strongly suspect the form/button action in search.html (or whatever it's called). Perhaps edit that code into the question. – DinoCoderSaurus Sep 13 '19 at 18:45
  • I already edited the search.html code... check it out. – Ahmedalsa Sep 14 '19 at 5:07
  • If you are clicking on the link in one of the li elements, it should send a GET request to the book route with the query string book_id=_someBookId_ That's not what the image shows, and i cannot explain it. Perhaps you need to spend more time with browser tools and/or flask log? – DinoCoderSaurus Sep 14 '19 at 22:10

Based on comments, the proximate cause of the "Not Found" error is the missing @ here: app.route("/book/<string:isbns>/", methods=["POST", "GET"])

  • already changed it but now I get a different error json.decoder.JSONDecodeError: Expecting value: line 1 column 1 (char 0) – Ahmedalsa Sep 16 '19 at 13:17
