I have just downloaded the code for pset8 and the line 26

app.jinja_env.filters["usd"] = usd

shows an error. The code hasn't been modified yet and when I run the flask run command I get this error: "method 'jinja_env' has no filters member"

I have tried commenting out the line, but the error remain. The web application run and shows error 500.

any guidance appreciated.

  • What happens if you change the code to app.jinja_env().filters ["usd"] = usd? – MARS Nov 13 '19 at 16:13

That is simply a warning in the IDE but doesn't affect the functionality. If you want to stop seeing it, you can create a file called .pylintrc in your finance folder with the following contents:

[TYPECHECK]
generated-members=app.jinja_env.filters

then save the file and close and reopen your application.py. The error shouldn't show again.

I think you might have missed out the configuration step. You first need to register for an API key to query IEX's data. This requires creating an account on its website and obtaining the API token value. The steps for this have been provided in the problem set itself. The flask run command should run without errors thereafter.

Hope this helps!

    No, this has nothing to do with this error. It occurs in application.py script. – Enis Arik May 17 '20 at 9:30
  • @earik87 I was facing the same error and I could rectify it by doing this, though. What do you think this error means? – Astha Jain May 25 '20 at 19:53
