I'm trying to do the readability exercise for week 2 in the cs50 IDE and am unable to compile my program.

I followed the steps below exactly, but am getting the error message depicted below the steps

I've repeated the instructions multiple times and googled for help. Has anyone else encountered this? Or have a solution?

Thanks!

  • what does ls show? IMO readability is difficult to spell and type, perhaps there was a typo in the open readability.c step. OR perhaps the file was not saved/written before executing make readability. – DinoCoderSaurus Apr 2 '20 at 1:30

I found that when following the instructions to create readability, the newly created tab "readability.c" has a red dot, and when clicked, it prompted me to save. Once saved, it should work. Hope this helps. enter image description here

Experiencing the same issue. I've tried instructions verbatim several times and receiving "make: *** No rule to make target 'readability'. Stop

I've tried deleting, and starting over, but no luck.

I am working through CS50 for first time and was having same issue.

I found that by calling the directory with 'cd + name of directory' unlocked the ability to 'make' the file, and then subseqently 'call' the file. Hope this helps.
