I'm following the instructions to install submit50 from here. The commands appear to execute without any error:

$ pip3 install submit50
WARNING: pip is being invoked by an old script wrapper. This will fail in a future version of pip.
Please see https://github.com/pypa/pip/issues/5599 for advice on fixing the underlying issue.
To avoid this problem you can invoke Python with '-m pip' instead of running pip directly.

  • Didn't sort out yet what and where exactly goes wrong, but it helped me to run this commands (pip install and submit50) with sudo. Might have something to do with "for which user" tools are getting installed... – AlStorm Prime Jun 24 '20 at 1:14
  • @AlStormPrime I thought about doing that too, but then I came across this question which seems to indicate that it is unsafe to run pip install as root. – Mike Jun 24 '20 at 2:06

I uninstalled submit50 and reinstalled it again and now it's working. Something must have gone wrong with the installer the first time.
