I'm taking cs50 through edX, and received a grade of zero for initials.c in pset2 even though it is working correctly. I wasn't sure where or who to direct this question to.

  • Hi, did you test your program with check50 first?, also notice that the grade can take up to three weeks to update. Here you can take a look to another question grade related cs50.stackexchange.com/questions/8990/…

  • I was unable to get check50 to work properly, so I check my work manually by seeing (on the gradebook page) the inputs it will be tested with and the outputs they expect to see. My initials.c program works properly, but I suspect I may have missed an invisible printable char which is causing it to fail. I haven't had time to look into it since I hit pset3. Thanks. • I am also getting strange results in check50. When I input the same values as check50 (Milo Banana, ROB), I get the correct results (MB, R), but the check50 returns the message: :( outputs "R" for "ROB" \ expected prompt for input, not output of "Please enter your name :" I have run update50, and the issue remains.

  • I don't know if this is the correct place to post this question, is the same subject, slightly different. I have coded the initials pset and tested, it returned "ok". When I checked my grade today I've noticed that I was graded 11 of 100. Rechecked my code and in fact was wrong. I fixed the code and what I really want to know is: Will the grade be changed or it ill remain the first given?

1 Answer 1

My problem was corrected by commenting out my prompt for user input. This runs counter to the spec ("a program that prompts a user for their name"), but is consistent with the illustration.
