I have four sprites in my Scratch program, and they move around to various positions throughout my program. I'm testing now, and will start and stop intermittently. When I stop, I cannot figure out how to get the sprites to return to their original position. Further, the last step in my program is for my sprites to hide. I cannot get them to reappear for me to restart/make further edits.

Thank you in advance for any help!

You're looking for something like this:

enter image description here

What this does is saves the location data before the code executes, then when you wish to restore the positioning, you can hit space and it runs.

Also, for debugging you can drag in a block, double click it and it runs (e.g. a Show block).

Note that the blocks on the reset procedure could simply be on the space bar, but I like to split it off.
