I'm having troubles with the display on my VMWare appliance.

I can change the resolution, but it's either 800 x 600 which makes it too small, and makes the rest of the window just black. If I make it something bigger like 1360 x 768, I actually have to scroll to see the whole display.

For example, If I'm starting at the top of the screen, there are scroll bars on the side that I would have to use to scroll down to see the task bar.

Is there any way to have the display automatically adjust to the window size?

  • I have the same problem with the new Appliance 2014 (used for 2015). I opened new file in Gedit and had to adjusted the resolution to bigger in order to see Open. Also, I cannot copy link from my Firefox to the Chrome in the appliance like I used to do. Chrome runs slowly on my computer, so I don't want to use it, but that's the only choice in the appliance. • Also, because I have to use 800x600 now (to avoid using the size bars), every single time I need to open a file on gedit, I have to adjust the resolution, in order to see the open button. This new VMware is worse than the old one. Commented Mar 27, 2015 at 1:48

Have you installed the Virtual Box guest additions if that applies? If not, does pressing Host+F (to make it full screen) work?
