I'm trying to install the CS50 Appliance in VMWare Player, but I'm getting an error message saying 'Cannot covert to virtual machine: Unknown Error'.

Also, there is no AppData in kruti_000. I have no idea how to solve this. Did anyone else get this error?

  • AppData is a hidden folder, in order to see it you need to change the folder preferences in the control panel. or if you are in windows 8 hit "windows key + R" and then type %appdata%. I am using vmware player 6.0.3 and i am not having any problem. just in case you are not using the correct file here is a link to the cs50 appliance: mirror.cs50.net/appliance50/2014/releases/29/…

Try to redownload the image, or re-install vmware player, usually these errors occur from a bad install of the software, or from a corrupted image download (use the torrent to prevent this)

  • It did not work. I downloaded both of them again. It is giving me the same error.

  • uninstall vmware, then donwload Ccleaner, install it and run it, after cleaning up, re-install vmware, the error should dissapear.
