In my program everything is working except when you reach Z it counts up to the characters instead of counting back from the start at A.

EDIT: Question is now solved. I had to convert the ascii value to alphabetical, use modulo on the alphabetical, then convert back to ascii. I used modulo on ascii right away and so it wasn't working before, but now it is.

Also, my question has nothing to do with the "array index" question that this was marked as duplicate of.

You are mixing alphabetic indexes with ASCII values, watch closely zamyla's video on caesars, its explained very well there.

  • Yes I watched zamyla's video now and understood you had to change from ascii I to alphabetical index, then use modulo on alphabetical, then covert that back to ascii. I was using modulo on ascii right away so it wasn't working, but now it is. thanks wallek876.

  • kareem, my question has nothing to do with the "array index" so I don't know why you marked it as duplicate of a post asking about array index. My question was about ascii values and counting back to A once you reach Z. Which makes me wonder if you even read my question in the first place.
