I was doing the breakout walkthrough for pset3. I looked at the other questions which talked about a compilation error using gwindow. I tried the solutions there but it didn't work, and this error message is different. See the below error and my code please: enter image description here

I have ensured that I saved the file in the src4m folder and ran it from there. I have the latest 2015 appliance which is 2014-29. Yet it still comes with this strange error that I don't know how to solve, nor what it represents.

Please help.

Thank you.

Your makefile doesn't know what to do with window1.c only window.c

If you execute the clang command manually, and it compiles, you will know for sure: clang -ggdb3 -O0 -std=c99 -Wall -Werror -o window1 window1.c -lcs -lm

I 'm thinking you will either need to change your source code filename, or change your makefile configuration.

  • Thanks that clang works! You're a legend

  • What does -O0 mean? And what does "lcs" and "lm" mean? Thank you.

  • There's an entire short or walkthrough video by Nate Hardison on the clang compiler and Makefiles. You skipped it, so I highly recommend you go back and watch it, and download the clang manual and do a little research. Apr 24 '15 at 17:14
  • Thanks but I have seen it and I googled the terms but couldn't find them. I didn't see -O0 in it. As for lcs and lm, I can only assume they're libraries because -l is for linking libraries like lcs50 but I'm not sure in your case.
