  • This error is commonly because of a syntax error early in a program - a misplaced parenthesis or curly brace. Since stddef.h is a well tested program, the problem probably isn't there. My next clue is that the error occurs in the first line of regular code. (I don't count the comments or anything that starts with #.) This indicates to me that the problem lies in the file that has the include. Isfind.c that file? Have you looked carefully at all of find.c from the first line to the line of code with main()? If you haven't found it, please edit the question and post that part of the file.

Deleted the pset3.zip and pset3 from the appliance. Again downloaded the zip file by executing 'wget http://cdn.cs50.net/2014/fall/psets/3/pset3/pset3.zip' in the terminal window. Tried 'make find' and no error this time.
