Its probably because VMware Authorization service is not running.
To start the VMware Authorization service or to check whether it's running:
Login to the Windows operating system as the Administrator.
Click Start and then type Run. If you are unable to find the Run
option, refer to Microsoft article What happened to the Run command?
Type services.msc and ...
I had the same issue (installed from ISO on Hyper-V). I found that ip50 only checks for an address on eth1. Personally I only had eth0 active. I just updated the ip50 script to check eth0 instead and the IP address shows up fine now. Internet and appliance updates were working fine before and after.
To update the ip50 script, open a terminal window and ...
Another student, in whose appliance the gedit-plugins package was missing, found that the following two commands solved the problem:
sudo apt-get install -o Dpkg::Options::="--force-overwrite" gedit-plugins
sudo apt-get install -o Dpkg::Options::="--force-overwrite" --reinstall appliance50
One issue is that both gedit-plugins and appliance50 install a file ...
After too much of a digging, I've finally found a fix to restore "Settings Manager" item to the "50 Menu":
Run in terminal:
Then, find the following part:
Add "Settings" category there, so it will look ...
For Ubuntu 14.04

Set up the cs50 library: https://cs50.readthedocs.io/libraries/cs50/c/
Download check50 from: https://github.com/robotmayo/check50
Set aliases for check50 and clang in ~/.bashrc

Status 400 usually refers to an error during the connection of your appliance to the "back-end" that controls the status of your requests.
You can get such error for various reasons:
1 - Your internet connection is not working properly
2 - Your appliance is misconfigured in its network section
3 - The back-end server is too busy at the moment to ...
A fix for this on your end would be to add the additional networks in the VBox settings for the VM; network adaptor 2 should be Host-Only; (if nothing shows up in Adapter 2's name go to File > Preferences > Network > Host only, and click the top image-button on the right "Add host only network") and network adaptor 3 should be set to Bridged (you can leave ...
if anyone has run into the issues i have stated above there is a simple fix. Doing some searching around and trying to access urls using https showed me my appliance was not ‘secure’. By going into settings and manually changing the time and date of the appliance, everything is right back on track
Did you follow the instructions in pset1 that said to run update50 first?
There's an update that will fix your gedit built-in terminal to use the correct compiler commands.
Also, jharvard@ubuntu is perfectly fine.
Go to 50 Menu > Settings > Keyboard

Try any of the following tweaks:
You must install guest additions. In the "Devices" menu in the virtual machine's menu bar, VirtualBox has a handy menu item named "Install guest additions", which mounts the Guest Additions ISO file inside your virtual machine. A Windows guest should then automatically start the Guest Additions installer, which installs the ...
When run without a makefile, Make takes its cues from environment variables set in your shell (specifically, those loaded in /etc/profile.d/appliance50.sh).
To get the same behavior from Make as it has in the CS50 Appliance, you can add the following to your .bashrc (or .zshrc, etc, if you're using a different shell):
You can perfectly re-submit your code using any machine (the OS is not relevant in this case) from where you have access to your 'C' files: all you need is a working (modern) browser (Chrome would do just fine). And having access to your 'C' files in any computer is pretty trivial if you followed staff's recommendation and placed all your code inside a ...
The VirtualBox version of the appliance currently has an issue with the gedit install. Staff are aware of it and are working on a fix.
In the meantime, run this:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install --reinstall gedit
That should get it up and running again.
It is a bit hidden, you actually need to enter one of the links for instructions on how to install them. The link to the current image file: http://mirror.cs50.net/appliance50/2014/releases/26/appliance50-2014-vmware.ova Or alternatively, if you prefer torrent: http://mirror.cs50.net/appliance50/2014/releases/26/appliance50-2014-vmware.ova.torrent
An example of the command is when you enter an instruction on the terminal command line, like make testfile. If there is a file called testfile.c or a rule to build it in the makefile file, then make will create an executable called testfile.
It looks like you're trying to make conditions-0 when the source code file is named conditions.c. To create an ...
I had the same problem.
I solved the "failed to write" error by issuing this command in the terminal in the lower part of the window:
sudo chown ubuntu ./.c9
After that, i did refresh the page and click in the gear in the left side navigation menu.
I checked all the "show" options.
I can now create directories ~/workspace/.c9/ and files inside any ...
As far as i can tell you can either use another port than 8080 or better stop the server using that port. The command for the latter is:
This is somehow not written in the pset6 documentation, but in this video you can find the details by David: https://youtu.be/3dmp0ycKC5c
Hope that helps.
I wrote a small BASH script for setting up the appliance programs into existing Ubuntu OS. This script i had wrote, specially to configure my own Ubuntu 14.04 but will work for Raspberry Pi 2 Ubuntu Edition and 13.10(Server Edition) also.
this script will configure/install:
CS50 Library (C, PHP, Ruby, Python)
You may follow the steps here to install the guess additions.
First, download the guest additions iso from here!
After you have installed your Linux Guest system, there are a few
additional packages needed for the Guest Additions. These packages
enables you to create kernel modules.
Fedora users need the following ...
Don't worry if your'e a total noob, most of us who joined CS50 were the same, so, here's your answer.
I recommend you simply refer to the CS50 appliance manual for all your needs, its located here: https://manual.cs50.net/appliance/19/
Unless you have a specific problem not described by the manual, you can ask it here.
Hmm there's a very recent thread about this:
Apparently Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 and Comodo Internet Security 7 are incompatible with some of the latest versions of Virtualbox. Do you have any of those two antivirus softwares installed?
Reportedly VirtualBox version 4.3.12 might work!
