VMware can't copy paste my code or file to my host OS
Make sure you have VMware tools installed. I think you will find it under VM -> Manage. If it is stippled (greyed out) make sure you have a CD Rom mounted to linux.iso. Something like VM -> Settings->...

you won't need VMware in 2016 because you are gonna use a new web-based platform called the CS50 IDE. the CS50 IDE is a cloud-based IDE based on Cloud9. see https://cs50.readme.io/!

Is vmware free or chargeable?
As an alternative, you might try the open source VirtualBox, available at https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads. It handles the CS50 appliance well.
