When I used check50 to check pset3's helpers.c, here is what I received. However, when I submitted it, here are my marks. As you can tell, these marks are very different from one another. Can someone help me?

Thank you so much for everyone's help.

There are several things that could have happened. Are you sure that you uploaded the correct version of the helpers.c file? Did you compile or test using a different version? Usually, something like this results when an earlier version that isn't right gets uploaded in the zip file, or the zip file is created from the wrong directory.

I would recommend downloading the zip file that you submitted, extract the .c file from it, and run it through check50 locally to confirm that it is your finished version.

Another cause might be that find.c was changed, or some other problem with the code, but that's hard to know without seeing source code, or the commands you used to run check50 locally, or without knowing the exact process used to submit your code.

  • Yes, I made sure that I uploaded the correct version. I actually uploaded it 7 times, all with the same results. The last time I even downloaded a new find.c files and only changed the helpers.c file with the exact same result.

  • My suggestion would be to find someone on cs50 slack or one of the other discussion forums willing to compile and check50 your code and see if they are getting a successful run. IF so, then take it to CS50 staff. I'm suspicious because the check50 program is extremely well tested and is also used to do the grading. It's very, very rare to get different results between local check50 and the gradebook version, especially since it's the same program.
