I'm still working on the cs50 application (it's still 2015 right?) and got a problem with pset6.

Basically I am getting a Syntax Error:

/path/to/hello.html: 2: /path/to/hello.html: Syntax error: newline unexpected

Everything should be implemented, only the response to client is something I am still doing.

My issue is:

  • where does this error come from and what does it mean?

After peering through everything (and I actually mean everything), I realize that the staffs implementation of responding php to the browser used popen to pipe the file to the php interpreter, seeing how the static pages don't have to be piped anywhere I should have used fopen.

A week later, pset 6 done!
