If I pass a wrong argument the program exits but when I run check50 it shows an error:

you have to return 1 if the argc is not equal to 2 which means argv[1] is not present and print a message along with it asking the user to provide them..... This is easy. Just code this statement at the beginning of the main function and you're done.
