I am currently using the appliance through VMWare, and while doing the breakout program I find myself with 2 problems. One the game runs quite laggy, both versions (staff and mine), and it is quite probably because my CPU is far subpar, making it harder to properly play the game to try and catch bugs. And two, I would like to share the game with my friends, specifically to tune things like speed, and to check everything works properly. However is easier said than done, since it is quite unreasonable to ask them to install either an hypervisor and the appliance, or to install linux. So is it possible to compile it to make a Windows executable? If so, how should I approach it?

  • I run cygwin on my windows xp too, works great. You will have to download and install it too, though, just as you would with VMware, so I don't know if it's that much of an advantage.

I don't know what game are you referring, but, there are various gcc (almost compatible with clang) compilers for windows, buuuuuuuuuuut, remember you need also to install the cs50 libraries, and if you are refering to breakout game, you need the Stanford librarie too.

So I suggest to resize your Hard Disk, make a new a partition and install a clean appliance on your computer, in instructions they have posted a link with appliance ISO file
