I'm currently working on the PSet 3 - Breakout.

As of now, I'm getting an error that says "Segmentation fault" and I'm not able to figure out that why is it giving so. I'm little bit sure that probably the part that listens to mouse events and moves the paddle accordingly is at fault, but I'm not sure. So please let me know that where I'm making the mistake.

And btw, the code isn't yet complete.

  • use gdb to find the source of the segfault and go from there.

Your initPaddle() function returns null which means you can not use any variable in that function in other parts of the program. Modify your function to return something you need in the main body.

  • Thank you so much for this answer! I have been reading SPL documentation for the last 2 days to try and find something that I had missed but this worked straight away! Commented Nov 8, 2015 at 12:24
