I receive the below error message when trying to access phpMyAdmin:

phpMyAdmin - Error

2003 - Can't connect to MySQL server on '127.0.0.1' (111)

The server is not responding.

I was previously able to access and then after passing a query with incorrect syntax into SQL via php code I receive the above error message. I think I may have somehow corrupted my accounts database.

You will get that message if mysql50 hasn't been started (ie mysql50 start).

  • Hmmmm. You'll find advice here on how to run mysql from the command line. You might also try restarting your workspace (CS50 IDE tab > Restart) and bouncing apache50 and mysql50 (stop, start each). What was the sql command that seemed to precipitate this? Commented Nov 18, 2016 at 14:28
  • the CS50 IDE tab > Restart has worked! thank you for the assistance Commented Nov 18, 2016 at 15:11
