You could extend that to change all the pixels that have a rgbtRed component of 0xff, not checking blue and green components at all.

Even if it looks different, the red is not our problem, green and blue are.

So one of my solutions (I've tried multiple, with varying results) was actually faking the red plastic sheet (there's a link in the problem description that goes to http://www.stitchcraftcreations.com/2010/06/10/secret-agent-kit/). The red plastic filters out all light but the red part, and it applies to the whole image, not only to some pixels.
