whenever i tries to open smiley.bmp and other .bmp format files i gets the error 'problem opening the file ' I have downloaded my pset5 again but still then i'm getting the same error. the error i get when i open the .bmp format file

I also wanted to know that how can we remove a directory

Open your bitmap using an image viewer program (the appliance has an application called Ristretto Image Viewer) not using Gedit.
