For experimental reasons I want to use the editor Atom to write C. To do this I need the libraries and a compiler. Could someone walk me through how to do this? I checked the appliance guide to try to get the libraries from the CS50 jharvard but, my computer would give me an error message with the code 0x80004005. Mabey I’m not doing this right so if anybody picks up an obvious error please let me know and explain it. I appreciate your help.

Don't know if this answers your question but certainly any text editor such as Atom (or even Notepad) can be used to write C code. To compile it, you can download gcc in Linux (or cygwin if running Windows). You can include the usual header files from there, except for cs50.h, which is specific to CS50.
