I get this message with commands such as man printf :

This system has been minimized by removing packages and content that are not required on a system that users do not log into. To restore this content, including manpages, you can run the 'unminimize' command. You will still need to ensure the 'man-db' package is installed.

If I execute unminimize, I get this :

mv: cannot move '/etc/dpkg/dpkg.cfg.d/excludes' to '/etc/dpkg/dpkg.cfg.d/excludes.dpkg-tmp': Permission denied

Unfortunately you can't do this on the container they have provided. And that is not likely to change, I would agree it does seem pretty absurd that they dont have the man pages present on what they prepared given the nature of the usage of the container for this class. Fortunately the internet exists and you can look up the man pages quite easily.

One good source that I use is: https://linux.die.net/man/
https://www.kernel.org/doc/man-pages/ is another good source
