I followed pset4 tutorial and wrote a whodunit.c file based on copy.c but with a few lines added, then compilled whodunit and it created the exe file but when i try to run ./whodunit clue.bmp verdict.bmp nothing happens . when I run ./whodunit this message appears: usage:./copy infile outfile

What am I missing here?

It should be generating a new file as output. In this case, it would be verdict.bmp. If you're not creating the output file, then it's time to debug the program and find out why. This program doesn't print anything to the screen, it just outputs a file, so it might look like it isn't doing anything, even though it is generating an output file.

  • Thanks Cliff it generated indeed veredict.bmp but when i open the file at image viewer Its not 100% defined despite I can recognize the face it shows ;) is this valid or do I need to get a 100% clear image? Commented Oct 18, 2015 at 18:39
  • Most people end up with an image of someone that is barely recognizable. The point is this - can you figure out who it is? (I don't know of anyone who has gotten a clean image yet.)
