this is the image I am getting which I still can not recognise who this guy is, so the question is is this enough or do I somehow enhance the image?

Congratulations on "getting the red out" of the image. Now, if you'd like to view the image in 256 shades of gray instead of in pale cyan, you might want to consider what W3Schools has to say about Hexadecimal Shades of Gray. It's a very small rewrite to the code you've already got!

Otherwise, you can not take all of the red out but instead just reduce it. This leaves some shading in the image to help it to be viewed. Then you can adjust the red and green to stand out more. It's because you are viewing a light colour on a white background that makes it difficult to see. Commented Oct 29, 2016 at 11:47

If you leave the red value untouched for all pixels, and set the green and blue values equal to it, you will get the entire image in 256 shades of gray. HTH. HAND. Commented Oct 29, 2016 at 22:47
