I just enrolled and watched week 0 videos. Looks like I will need Scratch, etc. to do this course. where can it be downloaded?

It may be daunting to do all the readings, but the reading material will likely answer a lot of questions you have that will come up. I recommend reading the FAQ's, Instructions, and Syllabus, then begin the lectures and walkthroughs for Week 0, then dip in to Week 1 once you've processed everything. 1Thank you very much for your fast reply. I have taken other edx classes and the week0 material was very brief. As you suggested, it was all there in CS50 week 0 but holy mackerel ;) it took hours to get thru all the videos and text material. Ah, I love to see people that are in a hurry to learn! :-) The good thing about this course is that everything is presented and pointed to as you need it.
Scratch will be introduced in depth during week 1, particularly in the problem set, pset0. If you're in a hurry, here's the link:

You'll use Scratch for the first assignment only, but it's a nice tool to understand the bigger concepts without having to worry about syntax. You can do a lot of fun things with it!
The next several weeks are done in C. After that, other programming languages, markup languages and tools will be introduced. Most, if not all of them are embedded in the appliance that you will install on your computer. (Wait till you read pset1 to ask about that.)
I haven't had to go hunting for anything. It all gets presented as needed. If you do need more though, there are always extra reference material listed in each assignment. Enjoy!!!!
