Last year I did a bit of programming using Matlab. I saw that the cs50 IDE supports Matlab files and I wanted to brush up on my skills. The only problem is that I cannot figure out how to execute said files. I have tried the ./ notation, but that returns with permission denied.

Any help is much appreciated!

install octave. It will interpret your matlab files. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GNU_Octave

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:octave/stable
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install octave

There is more about installing octave in Linux Environment.
