Hi I am doing cs50 and for the past few days the debugger on the ide is not responding. Whenever i press debug with breakpoints provided it just stops at the following point:

What should I do?

Edit: i got this issue while working with pset5. Now, It doesn't even work with a simple program like hello world.

  • I can't even set my breakpoints. My display looks very different than Mr. Lloyd's. I tried doing it through gmd, but couldn't get that working either. I'm not hard up on this problem, but I suspect the shorts have not kept up with the Cs50 IDE development. I could be wrong. Help50 is golden and keeps on keeping on.

Reset to default

First of all press the red button to stop. and then click on the cross to Exit the Debugger.

Start Debugging again. it should work now.

Removing all expressions under "Watch Expressions" and restarting the debugger solved the problem for me.

The solution I have is close your browser totally and then restart it.

  • The question is 9 months old and refers to IDE version 56, which used completely different debugging integration for C programmes (current IDE version is 98).

  • Restarting the browser is unlikely to work (restarting the IDE via Restart Workspace is more promising). And much has changed sine then, we now use the debug50 wrapper. If you have a problem with current version, create your own question.
