It appears that my appliance is working correctly on my machine, but the chrome browser is running so slowly as to be unusable. (click required up to a minute before responding, text entry also slow)

Are there any recommended tests or settings that might help? I wish to work in the one environment and not switch back and forth.

Windows 8.1, BitDefender , hardware virtualization turned on in the BIOS, Intel i7 3.5GHz, 16GB, VMware-workstation-full-11.1.1-2771112.exe, appliance 2014-29 (appliance50-2014-vmware.ova)

  • From your system specifications your appliance should fly. Try giving it a little bit more ram, else turn of your Antivirus as it may slow down the copying of files to your hard drive.

  • did you try giving the appliance more resources (e.g., RAM and CPUs) from the appliance's settings in VMware!

  • Thank you, I will look into it when I get back to that machine and let you know.

After following the recommendations made in the comments, it appears that things are running much better. The default values seem fairly minimal. RAM was set at 512MB. After increasing RAM, disc size, and processors, it seems pretty zippy. (now to learn how to get the additional disc space to show up)
