I am trying to import CS50 appliance on Windows 8.1 -64 bit OS. I installed vmware workstation 11 following the instructions on site. I downloaded appliance file - applicance50-2014-vmware.ova file - size 2239820 KB. When I import it in workstation, I get a message - this did not pass OVF specification.... when I click 'Retry', I am getting this error message. "Failed to read from file : appliance50-2014-vmware.ova. Pl suggest if anything missing here.

I just downloaded appliance50_2014_releases_29_appliance50-2014-vmware.ova and it's 2239932 KB, so you basically miss a couple of bytes, and maybe that's why VMWare doesn't recognize the image file.
Try to re-download it from here: https://manual.cs50.net/appliance/2014/workstation/.
I would suggest you use the torrent link, since torrent uses hash check to make sure the whole file was downloaded.
