I'm moved to country where I have to use VPN internet connection. I can watch Lectures, I can use Dropbox. I can't just connect with internet, CS50 appliance (no IP in right bottom corner), can't update CS50 appliance (because there is no connection with CS50 appliance), when I opening Gedit there is not terminal window under the Gedit window. Please help me solve the situation to have a chance to continue my study.

  • Are you sure you don't have internet connection? Can you access the internet from your host OS (Windows/Mac)? The no IP message at the bottom is a bug sort of, see how to fix it here: cs50.stackexchange.com/a/7807/7539. To show a terminal in gedit see here: cs50.stackexchange.com/a/2027/7539

  • I do have internet connection in general but my s50 appliance seems do be not connected. I opened sudo nano /usr/bin/ip50 but the file is empty.

  • in my gedit there is enable terminal plugin but gedit doesn't open terminal window under gedit window. When I was in Europe everything works fine now no.

  • Are you using the 2014 version appliance? Do you see 2014-xx at the bottom of your screen? Also if you open chrome inside the appliance can you visit a webpage? (www.google.com for example)

  • I can't open websites in chrome, there is non internet connection.

From your comments, you are using an older version of the appliance. Consider upgrading to the latest one, by removing this one and installing the latest from here: manual.cs50.net/appliance/2014.
